Earthy sculptural ceramics
For thousands of years the Berber women of Morocco have made these incredible ceramics. Clay is dug from the earth, shaped by hand and cooked by fire, then painted with natural pigments. Each unique piece is an earthy, sculptural work of art.
• Ceramic size approx: 16.7 cm high x 20 cm wide x 7 cm deep
Limited quantities, only 1 available.
Unfortunately this traditional art is being lost, as this ancient technique is rarely handed down to the next generation who no longer see it as a desirable skill.
There is now only one woman in the tribe that still makes these, and she now produces very few each year. We're not sure if or when we will be able to source more, and we were only able to source one of this style vase.
The profits from these ceramics go straight to the makers and give the village women a degree of financial freedom.
Artisan made, fair trade.
Please allow for some irregularities as these are hand made items.
Caring for your Berber ceramics:
Display and decoration only. Never fill with water, or wipe with a damp cloth. Any dampness or water will cause the pigment designs run, and damage the clay forms.
To clean, please only dust gently with a fine, dry duster.
